Happy Father's Day

Happy Father's Day to all the dads!  Here's the card I made for my husband who is truly the best dad he could possibly be to our kids.

This was a simple and fairly quick card to make, but I really did love the color combination.  I also love the look of inlaid letters - the "happy".  It only  takes a few minutes to inlay pieces in a diecut.

Supplies used include dies from Simon Says Stamp, Gina Marie designs and Reverse Confetti, and patterned paper from  American Crafts.

Have a great day!

Happy Mother's Day

Today I have a cute mom's day card to share.

I used products from PaperTrey Ink (for the lacy die cut), Penny Black (Flower Portrait die), and Sunny Studios (for the very cute pugs and the sentiment).  I die cut the flowers and frame from both light blue and white, colored the flowers with copics and then inlaid all the pieces.

Happy Mother's Day to all the mom's out there!

Birthday Butterflies

Today's card was made for a good friend, who is also an expert card maker.  Since she LOVES butterflies, I thought this was perfect.  OK, maybe she says she doesn't love butterflies on cards.  Maybe she says they look like cards for old ladies.  I've kind of made it my mission to somehow convince her that isn't true.  And since this was a BIG birthday for her, it's perfect either way.

It's hard to see in the picture, but the shaker pouch (from My Favorite Things) is filled with tiny clear butterfly sequins (Hero Arts Butterfly Sequin mix) along with swarovski crystals.  The Happy Birthday circle die is also from My Favorite Things.  For the background I used distress inks to create rainbow colors on a Concord and 9th Everday Tintables.

Dee, hope you have a great birthday!

Thanks so much for stopping by today.

May Day

I have a card to share today that I made for May Day.  It's hard to see in the photo just how pretty that violet patterned paper is.

When we were young, my sisters and I had a "May Day" tradition.  We would pick a huge bouquet of deep purple wild violet flowers, take them home to mom, ring the doorbell, and then run away.  To this day violets are still my favorite flower.  When I had lunch with  my sister on May 1st she surprised me with a basket of violets - African violets, not wild - and she pretended to ring a doorbell.  So nice!!  I think that is the first time I've received a May Day basket. And of course, we talked about all those violets we would pick for mom.  Great memories!

Thanks so much for visiting my blog today.

Tiny Fish

Today I have a simple card that makes use of some really pretty patterned paper.

You can see the shine of the tiny fish a little better in this next photo.  They were diecut (Impression Obsessions die) from silver metallic cardstock, with tiny black eyes.  There are 5 tiny fish, of different sizes.  This has special meaning for the person I made this card for.

Thanks so much for visiting.

Tropical Thank You

For today's card I used patterned paper from Dare 2B Artzy, and a thank you die from The Stamp Market.

To make the thank you die really stand out against the busy background I layered it three times.  Super simple and fast, but still very pretty.

Greyhounds, Take one

Recently I've been making greyhound dog cards for in my Etsy shop.  Today I have four to share, all using the new Hero Arts Diamond in the Ruff stamp set.

These silhouette type stamps seemed to me to be calling for clean and graphic backgrounds.  So I kept them simple by keeping the background all one color, inlaying back in pieces that the dies cut, and adding a sentiment white heat embossed on a strip of cardstock and just a few white sequins.  I love using these white sequins (Pretty Pink Posh) as they are mat, not shiny so they add a more subtle detail.

Cards for Men

Why are cards for men SO hard to make?  For me they are.  I just have the hardest time being creative when I need to make cards for men.  And it seems I'm always in need of this type of card.  Here's one birthday card I came up with recently.  I'm not totally happy with it (something about the "happy" just doesn't seem right), but it has been sent on it's way.

Tim Holtz Crazy Dog

I recently made a few cards for my niece.  In the past I've sent her cards featuring brown dogs that looked "similar" to her dog.  Here's one.

She needed some thank you cards and asked if I could incorporate brown dogs in them.  Here are two that I made for her.

Pinkfresh Noteworthy Frames

I have two cards to share, both use the Pinkfresh Noteworthy Frames Die.  This die is perfect for tucking little things behind (like these flowers made with a Paper Smooches die) as it cuts the top and bottom but not the sides.

Happy Heart Day

Happy Valentines Day!

Here are a few of the many valentines I made this year.  Each is a very different style.  The first is floral and elegant with vellum and silver heat embossing.

The next is cute and whimsical.

And the last might be my favorite - it's just "fun".

Have a great day!

Happy New Year, 2019

Wow!  I cannot believe that it is already a new year.  I'm not really sure what has happened to the past few months.  Well, OK, maybe that's not exactly true.  I do know where they've gone (in part).  I've been dealing with some very frustrating medical issues for several months, and have had a difficult time trying to get the things done that I want to.  One of those is posting cards on my blog.  I did get some card making done before the holidays, so maybe I can get some of those cards posted soon.

After Christmas I did need thank you cards for some of the amazing gifts I received.  I needed them to be super simple and quick to make.  One of my gifts was beautiful handmade paper from The Paper Source.  I really wanted the focus to be on this paper with its shimmery copper detail.  So I really just added a layered thanks diecut (Simon Says Stamp CZ Designs) using copper colored paint chips and some copper thread.  I do apologize for this very poor picture- you can't see how beautiful the paper really is.

Thanks so very much for visiting, and Happy New Year!
