4th of July Card 1

Over the next few days I have several 4th of July cards to share.  Here's the first.

This card was a CASE of a card made my Nancy Krueger that was on Lawn Fawn' blog.  Here's a link to that card.  I was having a hard time creating a 4th of July card for a young girl and Nancy's card was perfect. Check out her blog Happy Heart Handmade for some amazing cards. My card was made using the supplies I had on hand.  The sentiment was computer generated.

Supplies used include:
Stamps - Avery Elle Storybook, Impression Obsession Fireworks Cling Background
Dies - Pretty Pink Posh Stitched Speech Bubbles, Lawn Fawn Grassy Borders, Simon Says Stamp Stitched Rectangles
Coloring - Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers, Distress Ink
Other - Wow Metallic Silver Sparkle Embossing Glitter

A Sinking Feeling ...

Today's card was made for my brother's birthday (it was a REALLY big birthday). He is notorious for sending cards with sailboats on them, to everyone, for every occasion.  So, I just HAD to make him a sailboat card.

And here is the card inside

After die cutting a whole bunch of tiny sailboats I used the We R Memory Keepers Fuse Tool to enclose them in plastic and create a flat and easy to mail shaker card. I've always loved shaker cards, but since I mail most of my cards I haven't made all that many.  This tool sure changes that. They don't "shake" as much as traditional shaker cards.  But that is a well-worth tradeoff for making mail friendly cards.

Supplies used include:
Stamps - My Favorite Things Stamps Things With Wings
Dies - Impression Obsession Tiny Sailboats, Simon Says Stamp Stitched Rectangles and Circles
Paper - BoBunny Make a Splash Sandcastle
Coloring - Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers
The Sentiment was computer generated so I could make it exactly what I wanted.

Thanks so much for visiting today!

Super Succulents

Recently I made a set of cards to give as a gift, all featuring succulents.  Today I'm sharing some of these.  Back around the beginning of the year Papertrey Ink had a super sale with all their patterned papers for $1.  The price was unbelievable and they did sell out incredibly fast, but I was able to purchase some.  I had never tried their papers before, but since I love their stamps and dies I thought I'd give their papers a try.  I am in love with their patterned papers.  They are great quality and the colors in each pack all coordinate together.  They make card making so easy.  These cards were all made using the Super Succulents pack.

For this second card I used the cut out piece from the first, and added several coats of Wink of Stella for a lot of shimmer (hard to see in the pic).

Supplies used include:
Dies - Simon Says Stamp Stitched Rectangles, Postage Stamp Edge Frame, Birthday Wishes, and Painted Hello, Avery Elle With Sympathy, and My Favorite Things Double Stitched Rectangles

Thanks for stopping by today and hopefully tomorrow I'll share a couple more super succulent cards.

Happy Father's Day!

Today I'm sharing a father's day card.  I tried doing a technique that Jennifer McGuire showed recently (here)  using saran wrap to give texture to watercolors.  I tried this technique twice but didn't feel like I was totally successful either time.  I think maybe my downfall was that I used very inexpensive watercolors, and therefore didn't have enough pigment on the paper.

And here's the inside of the card.

Thanks so much for visiting and hope all the fathers had a great day.

New Home Congrats

My husband's niece and her husband (so would she be my niece too?) recently bought a new home so today's card was made to wish them congrats.  I apologize for the picture being a bit fuzzy.  The card was already in the mail so I couldn't "reshoot" the photo.

This card was super simple and involved no stamping, just die cutting.  I did diecut the house out of two colors and inlaid the door and windows.

Supplies used include:
Dies - Simon Says Stamp Congratulations Circle, My Favorite Things Double Stitched Rectangles
Paper - Doodlebug Puppy Love Patterned Paper

Feline Friend, Take Two

Today's card is just a second take on the card shared yesterday.  Actually, my husband colored this image.  He sees me color "all the time", and I think he was curious what it was all about.  But really, I think he was just getting bored with all the rain we had while staying at our family cottage.  Since he put so much time into the coloring I wanted to turn it into a card.

Supplies used include:
Stamps - Stampendous Laurel Birch Feline Friend
Dies - Simon Says Stamp Stitched Circles and Rectangles
Patterned Paper from Papertrey Ink
Coloring - Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers

Feline Friend

Today I'm sharing a card made last month while we were at our family's lake cottage.  It rained for two weeks, nearly all the time.  I know the saying is "April showers bring May flowers", but we saw April flowers and May showers, and showers, and more showers.  Needless to say I did a lot of card making, mostly cards for Pug Rescue of Florida's fundraiser in the fall, but I did squeeze in a few non-pug cards.  Here is one.

Isn't this cat so cool?  He was stamped, colored, cut out and layered onto a white stitched rectangle. To keep the focal point right on that cat but add a bit of texture I used bazzill white ribbed paper, added a few colored cardstock strips and then mounted the cat with thin 3D Foam Squares.  I really did love the way this card came out.

Supplies used include:
Stamps - Stampendous Laurel Birch Cling Feline Friend
Dies - Simon Says Stamp Stitched Rectangles
Coloring - Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers

Cat in a Box, Happy Purrthday!

Today's card was made recently for a good friend's birthday.  She helps us out so much - keeping an eye on our house while we travel and helping with our dog. But she is definitely a cat person, so I love making her cards with cats on them.  I did make a couple extras so this card will also be available in my Etsy shop soon.

I stamped the cat and box on both watercolor paper and neenah desert storm.  After coloring the cat I trimmed each piece very close to the stamped edge, ran a black marker along all edges and then paper pieced them together to make it appear he really is popping out of a cardboard box.

Supplies used include:
Stamps - Simon Says Stamp Furry Cat and Box
Dies - Pretty Pink Posh Speech Bubbles, My Favorite Things Double Stitched Rectangles, Simon Says Stamp Stitched Rectangles
Coloring -Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers
Paper - Moxie Just a Girl Patterned Paper

Toadily Wish You a Happy Birthday

Today I have a very cute card to share.  I confess - I didn't make this card.  It was made by my good friend and fellow card maker Dee and sent to my husband for his birthday.  It was just so cute I had to share it.

Supplies used include the Penny Black Toadily Stamp Set, Lawn Fawn Birthday Tags Stamps, Hero Arts Everyday Sayings Stamps, Avery Elle Wonky Stitches Dies, Echo Park Enamel Dots, and Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers

Thanks so much Dee for letting me share this card, and thanks for visiting today!

Pop Up Die-Cutting

Today I have a card to share that I made for my husband's birthday, using a technique that Jennifer McGuire called "pop up die-cutting".

I stamped the balloons on watercolor paper, used Zig Clean Color real brush markers to color, then die cut "happy birthday to you".  I propped each of the letters up with tiny strips of foam tape.  While I had my Misti out I stamped the same balloons and left them uncolored for the inside of my card.

Supplies used include: Papertrey Ink Dressed Up Dolls Birthday stamp set, My Favorite Things Happy Birthday To You Die
