Good Luck, Alphabet Blocks

Today I'm sharing a good luck card made for someone moving on to new career opportunities.

This card is pretty straight forward, just lining up the letter blocks, but making it did take longer than I wanted it to.  My first attempt I did not include the exclamation point and it just was too symmetrical and balanced since each line had four letters in it.  I kept looking at it and wasn't happy.  It wasn't until after I added the exclamation point (making one banner of letters longer than the others) that I felt the card "worked".  I felt it needed to be off balance..

Supplies used include:
Dies - Simon Says Stamp Alphabet Blocks and Stitched Rectangles, My Favorite Things Stitched Fish Tale Flags
Paper - My Minds Eye Xmas on Market Street (reverse side)
Other - Recollections Enamel Dots

Quilt Block Retirement

Today's card was made for someone who loves to quilt and is soon retiring.

This card was super easy to make because all the pieces for the quilt block were leftovers.  I had months ago made a set of cards for a friend all with quilt blocks on them.  I had saved my left over die cut pieces and this was the perfect opportunity to use them up.  All the pieces were inlaid into the frame and layered with matching colors, and the sentiment stamped.

Supplies used include:
Stamps - Papertrey Ink Keep It Simple Retirement
Dies - W Plus 9 Quilt Cuts 2, Simon Says Stamp Stitched Rectangles

Dies - My Favorite Things Double Stitched Rectangles, Simon Says Stamp Stitched Rectangles
Coloring - Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers
Other - DMC Silver Thread, Ranger Liquid Platinum embossing powder

Papertrey Ink Sunflower, Take 1

Today I'm sharing a card made using a beautiful Papertrey Ink stamp, again borrowed from my friend Jan.

I stamped the sunflower on four different colored paper, then fussy cut and paper pieced them together.  Since this image was so beautiful I wanted it to take center stage, so simply mounted it on a very neutral background.  A couple of enamel dots finish it off.

Supplies used include:
Stamps - Papertrey Ink Botanical Blocks
Dies - Simon Says Stamp Stitched Rectangles
Paper - Neenah Desert Storm
Other - Simple Stories enamel dots, fun foam

Tomorrow I hope to share another card made using this same stamp.
Thanks so much for visiting!

Fingerprint Doodle Flamingos

Today I'm sharing a card made with the Simon Says Stamp Fingerprint Doodles stamp set.  Thanks Jan for letting me "play" with some of your stamps and dies.

This stamp set comes with so many different animals, so I'm sure I'll have more fingerprint cards in the future. It really is fun!  I chose to stamp repeatedly the flamingo, then make fingerprints using my own finger and 5 different pink inks.  This was layered over some cool striped paper, a couple of thin mats and this card was done.  Super easy.

Supplies used include:
Stamps - Simon Says Stamp Fingerprint Doodles
Dies - Simon Says Stamp Stitched Rectangles
Paper - Recollections Tropical Life 6x6 pad

Stained Glass Butterfly

Rarely do I make a card that I would like to keep for myself.  But, today's card is one of those.  I just love the way it came out.  It has no stamping, only diecutting and coloring - lots and lots of coloring.

I first cut the die (borrowed from a friend) from black cardstock, then used the same die to impress the design onto watercolor paper.  I used that impression to guide me in my coloring.  It was a bit tricky to make sure my colors didn't overlap into other areas.  After finishing coloring I glued the black diecut on top, then layered onto a yellow mat and red card.  I do love the intensity of the colors.  Thanks so much Jan for letting me use your die.

Supplies used include:
Dies - Creative Expressions Butterfly Stained Glass, Simon Says Stamp Stitched Rectangles, Avery Elle Sweet Scallops
Coloring - Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers

Happy 4th of July

Here's my final 4th of July card.

Again, this card wasn't my original design. I was looking on pinterest and there were many cards with a jar with stars instead of flowers.  This was a combination of what I saw.  I wanted a card with lots of sparkle (way more sparkly in real life, hard to photograph) - I used 3 different foil cardstock for the stars, silver glittery cardstock for the stems and Silver embossing for the vellum jar.

Supplies used include:
Stamps - Reverse Confetti Whole Lotta Happy, borrowed Jar stamp (not sure manufacturer, but thanks Dee)
Dies - My Favorite Things Double Stitched Rectangles, Simon Says Stamp Stitched Rectangles
Paper - PaperTrey Ink

Hope you have a great holiday!
