So, They Say It's Your Birthday

I have a card to share today made for my daughter's birthday.  I love her so much and can't believe I am lucky enough to have her as my daughter.  She's a fan of pink flamingos so this seemed like a perfect card for her.

This card involved only diecutting and no stamping.  I used two different patterned papers.  These flamingo with the party hats, just perfect!

Supplies used include:  Paper Trey Ink Cornered Die, Fabulous Ten & Twelve paper by Authentique

Happy Birthday to my sweet daughter!

Gilding Flakes, One More Time

A while ago I made several cards using gilding flakes.  Today I have one more card to share, and this one might be my new favorite.

I cut the Simon Says Stamp Kindness Matters die from a piece of cardstock covered in gilding flakes and a piece of bright blue cardstock, and then inlaid the letters.  My friend Jan covered a piece of cardstock with a stick-it adhesive sheet and then applied the gilding flakes.  It was a nice surprise to get two sheets of this gilded cardstock in the mail. Thank you Jan!  They're so pretty.  I really like the way they added that "something special" to this card. It is so hard to capture in a photo how pretty they are, but you can see the shine a little better in this next photo.

I "hung" the gilded piece with some silver twine, added one matching enamel dot, and used foam squares to mount this on a piece of wood-grain paper.  I think the stitched edging on the mat really adds a lot of detail yet keeps the card clean and simple.  This was a perfect card to send to someone who was recently very, very kind to me.

Another Older Card

Today I have another card to share that was made quite a while ago, but just never got blogged.

The wreath and bow were from  a borrowed Newton's Nook stamp set - thanks Dee!  They were stamped and colored with Zigs and layered on a piece of brightly colored patterned paper.  I love this paper (Kaiser Craft Fly Free) and wish I had bought more than one piece.  This happens to me so often - I'll buy a piece of paper because it's "pretty", then not use it for a long time.  When I do use it I decide I REALLY like it, think of so many different ways I would use it, but then it's too old to try to buy more of.  So, then I hoard it.  I hate to use that last little piece. Yes, it happens all the time to me. I know I'm not alone here.  The thanks die is from a Reverse Confetti Thanks Tag Die set.  I really love the colors of this card.

Thanks so much for visiting.

Penny Black Hedgy Gift

Well, I'm finally back after an unexpected break.  The past month I've dealt with a hospitalization and surgery, and then hurricane Irma.  Not the most fun month, and not a lot of crafting.  But I do have some cards to share that were made awhile ago, but never blogged.  Today's card is simple, just stamped and colored.

I really wanted the stamped image to take center stage, so after coloring with Zigs I diecut with a cross stitch rectangle die and added a light grey mat.  I do love the way this card came out, clean and simple.  And I thought it was perfect to send to a friend who is an amazing teacher, and also put us up when we made the last minute decision to evacuate before the hurricane.

Supplies used include the Penny Black stamp Hedgy Gift.
